the void
When you are deep in a spiritual awakening, so many things are happening at once. It can feel overwhelming and at large like an emotional ping pong match you didn’t know you were signing up for. Imagine yourself a witness to this ping pong match: your eyes following the ball closely; the ball is your emotions, beliefs, old identity, and current life being smacked around by the universe. You must imagine yourself deep in the trenches of this game because it is the match that’s going to rebirth your new life.
When you’re in the void there is so much back and forth happening mentally and emotionally; questions that keep arising…is this spiritual path worth it? Am I doing this right? will I ever feel happy again? why can’t I stop crying? who am I?
The void is the stage of spiritual awakening where the old identity is falling away, but the new self hasn’t fully emerged. It feels like a pause, a liminal space, a cosmic waiting room.It is not punishment, it’s preparation. You are dissolving the old patterns, roles, and beliefs that once defined you. This “in-between” space is where your soul creates room for what’s truly aligned.
How the Void Feels
A sense of emptiness or numbness: like life has lost its color.
Loss of passion: things you once loved feel flat.
Disconnection: from people, routines, or even your own sense of self.
Confusion: no clear direction, purpose, or vision.
Isolation: feeling unseen or misunderstood, even in company.
Grief: mourning the loss of your old self, career, or identity.
How Long Does It Last?
There’s no set timeline. It can last weeks, months, or cycle back multiple times throughout your journey. What influences the duration:
Surrender vs. resistance: The more you resist, the longer it feels.
Attachment to your old identity: Letting go allows the new to form faster.
Your soul’s unique path: Some need longer cocooning than others.
What to do in the Void
Surrender to the unknown: Loosen the grip on your life. The path will reveal itself as you walk it, trust that your soul knows the way.
Give yourself grace: You have been the old version of yourself much longer than you have been trying to change, you don’t need a 5-year plan; you need an honest next step. Give yourself grace and know that only good can come from trusting your intuition. Whatever you lose from surrendering was never meant to join you in your new life.
Rituals:Create your own rituals to self sooth, go out and nature to just breathe different air, read books that align to your new identity, take that dance class. Identify activities that promote being in the now.
the alignment practice
TAKE 20-30 MINUTES AND BE FULLY HONEST WITH THESE JOURNAL PROMPTS.
Journal: what parts of myself am I afraid of letting go out of fear ?
What feelings are coming up for me in the body ? ( example -chest pressure, heartache, muscle weakness , fatigue)
What am I avoiding in this shedding process ? ( example-letting go of relationships that no longer align with my beliefs, agreeing to things that drain my energy, being alone with my thoughts)
body alignemt
Sit in stillness: sit in stillness and visualize the version of yourself that has come out of the void. imagine yourself whole, full of joy and peaceful.
Imagine a soft glow forming in front of you, slowly taking shape.
This glow represents the version of you that is emerging; your higher, more aligned self.
You don’t need to see exact details (face, clothes, career). Instead, notice the energy:
Do they feel peaceful? Empowered? Free? Radiant?
Ask silently: “What is one quality you are here to teach me to embody now?”
Listen for a word, a feeling, or even just a sense ( trust, calm, strength, creativity).
Place your hand on your heart and anchor that quality into your body.
