Know thyself
“One who knows all, but fails to know himself, knows nothing”
The Gospel of Thomas
On the journey of self-mastery and alignment a lot of what we find is the unlearning. The paradox of this path is we think we have so much to learn about spirituality and we ask, “am I doing this right?” until something clicks ... We are just unlearning the programming of the World back to our natural state, a blank canvas of expression and freedom. We learn that there was nothing wrong with our individual human expression; we have just been tricked into over consumption, performative misalignment, and self-abandonment.
To know yourself is to be fully present in each moment and accept the soul’s expression without judgment. Stepping into soul expression is the awareness of anything that feels unnatural or forced and choosing not to perform it in that moment.
Your essence is what makes what you do so special and unique. It’s the thing you can’t put a finger on that so many people do naturally, and you say to yourself “this was meant for you to do in this life”
Examples
A musician that freestyles in the middle of a live show; it seems rehearsed because it flows with perfection.
A friend that never measures anything in the kitchen but cooks five-star meals at the drop of a hat.
A mother who always knows what to say to her child, there’s an inner knowing that everything will be ok amid chaos.
Nature photography where the photographer clearly saw the soul of the earth, the detail of a leaf, the majesty of a mountain, the mystery of shadows
Soul expression is the purest outward flow of your inner essence the way your unique spark of the Divine (your soul) manifests through your thoughts, words, creativity, choices, and presence. To know thyself is to know there is no absolute expression of self; it is always shapeshifting and expanding.
“Nobody can tell you who you are. It would just be another concept, so it would not change you. Who you are requires no belief. In fact, every belief is an obstacle. It does not even require your realization, since you already are who you are. But without realization, who you are does not shine forth into this world. It remains in the unmanifested which is, of course your true home.”
-Eckhart Tolle
Living from soul essence takes some practice with working with the paradox itself. To know yourself is to know that you are nothing, no one can tell you who you are, and you are awareness expressing itself from universal consciousness.
Practical tools for living from Soul Essence
The Paradox - Everything & Nothing
· Everything -You are one with Source, all creation, infinite knowledge.
· Nothing - You are not the story, not the identity; you are pure awareness, empty vessel.
Living in this paradox is what frees the soul.
· You are not the Ego – Labels, Roles, Achievements
· The True Self- Vessel of God- consciousness
· God Consciousness – You are love, abundance, and freedom
To know thyself is eternal expansion. To live freely in the vigor of change, resting in the now, and embodying your essence. The ability to shed every construct and limitation that veils the soul’s full expression. To know thyself is to know that there is nothing prove; you are perfect.
“To know thyself is to trust that you are whole in every season of becoming, and that within you lives the infinite field of possibility.”
